The new Resident Shelter is an extension of Sunshine's already successful programs working to lift people in need by giving them a safe place to live and eat while learning the skills necessary to become independent. This shelter specifically houses men who are in need and is designed specifically for this purpose with high visibility bunking space on the top level, secured entry and exit points, and open and durable dining and classroom spaces. CORE10 took aesthetic cues from the surrounding brick buildings, some of which date to St. Louis' beginnings in the 1800's. The simple materials palette includes careful brick and stone detailing to lend the structure quiet dignity.
