M1 Bank - 7801 Forsyth Renovation

M1 Bank

7801 Forsyth Renovation in Clayton, MO

This mid-century building with parking structure below has been a bank since its start in the 1960s. While the main structure will remain, it will be wrapped in a new glass surround for onlookers to enjoy a modern building design that fits the current bustling downtown and also reflects its roots.

The project comprises the renovation of an existing 3-story building, below grade garage level expansion, façade upgrades and extensive site improvements. The concept of the design is to transform this mid-century delight into a jewel in a garden. The ground plane will be reclaimed and enlivened with a brick paver plaza. The brick patio wall will hold the edge and tie into the adjacent building, also owned by the client, and tie the 2 together as a campus. The building’s presence will be enhanced by shifting the plane of the curtain wall out to the edge of the roof line. The clear glazing will provide a window into the fully renovated interior with retail branch on the main level and two floors or executive offices above. The interior will be composed of custom metal work detailing, terrazzo floors and walnut doors and trims. In March, 2023 we opened a 57-year-old time capsule.
